Alleluia! HE is Risen The Lord is Risen indeed, Alleluia! Discovery Mass is Back in Chapel

This Sunday is Outreach Sunday!

Clergy Bios

The Discovery Mass is a special service at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church for children in the grades of kindergarten through sixth grade. The service is meant as an age-appropriate bridge between the Joy Mass (for small children, also at 9:00 a.m.) and the regular adult services. It is part of our exciting youth ministry program that also includes christian education, confirmation, community outreach, and fun social activities.

The service is specially designed to conform to the traditions of Episcopal worship while maintaining the attention of our younger audience. The service is shorter than a standard Rite II Eucharist but incorporates the important elements including the Collects, Bible Lesson and Gospel Readings, Nicene Creed, Children's Sermon and Communion. Children are encouraged to participate in many aspects of the service as lay ministers. (Sign-up below.)

The most exciting part of the Discovery Mass is our music. In an effort to combine traditional and contemporary elements, our service includes both a traditional organist and a modern quartet. The choice of music also fulfills this theme. In our ongoing work to improve this service, our youth choir program will be a primary focus for the upcoming year.

If you haven't been to this service, by all means, come see what you've been missing!
